Specs:

Smokin' Rockets Mega-Nuke

Overall Length: 121"

Approx. weight: 34½ pounds completely ready to fly but motorless

Airframe : 7.51 " PML wrapped with 9 oz. S-glass

Motor mount: 98mm (up to 48" long)

CP: 31" from aft

Construction Specifics:

West System Epoxy Resin 105 and Hardeners 205 and 206 were used exclusively throughout

Many internal and external joints use West High Density filler 404 or milled fiberglass for additional reinforcement

Fins attached to motor tube via fin-motor tube-fin 12 oz. fiberglass joints

Internal fin fillets:    Bead of West 105/205 + 404 /High Density filler overlaid with 9 oz. S-glass

External fin fillets:     9 oz. f'glass cloth joints extend to within 3" of the end of each fin RC

9 oz. f'glass continuous wrap around fore and aft fin tips joined to AF

                                       Bead of West 105/205 + 404 /High Density filler

7.5"x d"/98mm CR's used at each position: bottom of motor tube/fin aft, forward fin point and top of motor tube

Stainless steel U-bolts and hardware (backed up with washers ~1½" dia.) epoxied at all attachment points.

5/16" thread rod attaches to each threaded point on both U-bolts (bulkhead to bulkhead).

A 7.5" x 24" PML coupler is used for the forward section, extending 7" rearward and 17" into the forward section.

1" Tubular Nylon,  60' in the aft section, 15' in the forward section, is used throughout with 3/8" Quick Links. Attachment points for the drogue chute (24") and the main are at the base of the forward section and nose cone tenon, respectively.

Payload Bay is reinforced with 3- 7.5" x d" bulkplates and common U-bolts (via thread rod). Additionally, a 270º wrap of 9 oz. f'glass cloth was used around each 54mm PML tube (the balance was used to bond the tubes to the inner coupler walls).
