Fin Can Unit

The PML 98mm motor tube was marked off for fin placement (I used several redundant methods for accuracy). Then an oversized area was marked off and the tube roughed up with 60 grit. I then remarked the exact fin placements and sanded an additional centerline down each mark on the tube, so as to have a "flat" surface for the fin to adhere to. I'd venture a guess that this "flat" spot was about a 1-1½ mm deep and 3-4mm wide. The fins were bonded to the motor tube using slow West. The wrap is 12 oz. cloth in a continuous piece, 1½" into one fin RC, across the motor tube and 1½" into the next fin RC.

Note: this photo was taken before the 2nd forward CR was epoxied and clamped to the existing CR (at the fin foward position) and either of the 2 CR's were applied to the top of the motor tube. The rear CR's (2) were mounted after the entire fin can and aft rail button mount were inserted into the AF.
